The Oak Ridge Boys transitioned from gospel music to country music in 1977 when they moved from Columbia Records to the ABC/Dot label. This catchy song was their debut single for that imprint. It quickly became a most-requested record at country radio. It peaked at #3 on the Billboard country chart in late September 1977 beginning a long string of hits that extended to mid-1991.
