Mike Reid may be somewhat forgotten, now, but he was an amazing guy. Everything he touched turned to gold–however briefly, in some cases. Star football player at Penn State in the ’60s–and a college football Hall-of-Famer; star NFL player in the ’70s in only five seasons with the Bengals–a sack machine and Pro-Bowler and First-Team All-Pro; and wrote, and hit #1 in the ’90s with this, his debut solo country single. And he also co-wrote “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” which became rock-blues star Bonnie Raitt’s second-biggest hit.

Walk On Faith was Mike Reid’s solo country chart debut but three years earlier he scored a duet hit with Ronnie Milsap. “Old Folks” was a #2 hit in 1988. Reid wrote or co-wrote nine other Ronnie Milsap hits dating back to 1983 – Inside [#1/1983], “Stranger In My House” [#5/1983], Show Her [#1/1984], Still Losing You [#1/1984], Prisoner Of The Highway [#6/1984], Lost In The Fifties Tonight (In The Still Of The Night) [#1/1985], In Love [#1/1986], How Do I Turn You On [#1/1987] and Where Do The Nights Go [#1/1988]

Reid also penned hits for other country artists including It’s Only Over For You for Tanya Tucker, Fallin’ For You For Years for Conway Twitty, There You Are for Willie Nelson and I Wouldn’t Be A Man for Don Williams.
