It’s funny. When Lew DeWitt left and Jimmy Fortune came in, the Statler Brothers essentially became Jimmy Fortune’s back-up singers. It was a good move for everybody. The Statlers extended their career and got a bunch more hits in their tally–and Fortune made it with the group into the Hall of Fame.

That’s not really true. Jimmy sang lead on the songs he wrote, but most of the singles either featured Don Reid singing lead or (occasionally) featured everyone taking a verse, I like Fortune’s singing, but virtually all of my favorite Statler Brother tracks were made when Lew DeWitt was with the group

OK, could be it only seems that way because Fortune was out front on all the songs that I was hearing. I’ll admit that I did not buy the albums. I guess Fortune was Dunn to the original group’s Kix Brooks.

Difficult to convince someone otherwise that constantly forms opinions based upon very little knowledge. It’s like writing a book report after reading only one chapter.
The long tedious string of misinformed and incorrect commentary continues.
