I think it’s important to point out that when Angel In Disguise hit #1 on the country chart, it was the first time in ANY genre of music – pop, rock, r&b, dance, country – that an artist had hit #1 with four songs from the same album. Conley did it before Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, George Michael, the Judds, anyone.

I also have to disagree with the meaning of Holding Her And Loving You. In the song, he is telling his mistress that he can’t leave his wife. “if she’d give me one good reason I’d be gone. But she ain’t done one thing wrong. So don’t expect me just to walk out of the door. I still love her, but I love you more.”

I like this album more than the reviewer, especially all four singles. Conley had a unique sound and I still think it holds strong today.
