Conway’s timing for this song could not have been better. Released in mid-1981 during the “Urban Cowboy” era the imagery of the lyrics hit a home run with country fans. At the time this single was released many of Conway’s recent hits had very pop sounding arrangements so this song’s twangy traditional country sound was a definite hit with his long-time fans. This song and his 1980 hit “I’d Love To Lay You Down” were two of his most requested hits of the early 1980’s.

Conway’s single releases were usually the same version that was issued on his albums. But this song is one notable exception. Although his “Mr. T.” album and this single were released at about the same time the single version differed from the LP. Conway did a remix for the single release that added a lead guitar overdub (especially notable on the intro) and increased the volume on the fiddle track in some passages. When the CD era began MCA exclusively reissued the LP version on Conway compilations. It wasn’t until the mid-1990’s that the single hit version finally became available on CD.
