A great performance – this song received more pop airplay than any of Charley’s other songs except “Kiss An Angel Good Morning” and was covered many times. Dave Kirby, co-writer of the song, penned hits for many artists including Waylon Jennnings, Johnny Cash and Gene Watson among others.

Does anybody know what Charley sings in the second chorus at around 1:43 instead of “Phoenix, Arizona”?
Charley sings someting that sounds like “Is anybody going to San Antone, or Bakarata down Holland” (while the backup singers sing the correct lyric). Charley then makes a “Shut my mouth” gesture.
It’s some kind of a joke, but I have no idea what the joke is. Maybe it has something to do with the place where the performance is.

The concert was performed in the Netherlands — I’m guessing the Baccarat Hotel was probably the venue

I would guess this performance took place in the early 1980s or late 1970s judging from his appearence and attire

Charley has fans all over the globe. Even today he sells out venues throughout Canada and Europe – they must be expatriot good ol’ boys and rednecks !

Seems pretty clear to me that he sings “Rotterdam, Holland.”

I’m confused why there’s any confusion as to the year of the performance when the title of the video specifically says: Charley Pride “Is Anybody Goin’ To San Antonio” 1980 Rotter. I know youtube titles aren’t necessarily definitive (in fact are frequently wrong, like “San Antonio” instead of “San Antone”), but I don’t see any obvious reason to doubt the year as given either. Obviously the “dam” got truncated off of Rotter. The youtube description blurb spells out the full city name:

    From Rotterdam Country Music Festival
Charley Pride:”Is Anybody Goin’ To San Antonio”
    1980
