    One of my Mama’s favorite songs. She loved the Statler Brothers and we listened to them a lot. We had an 8-track that seemed to have about twenty songs on it and we played it when we would go into the city (which was about an hour drive).

    I remember her face would always light up when this song came on. The group recorded a lot of hymns but I believe this was their most successful one. The four men do an amazing job on this song. Lew Dewitt was still with the group before being replaced by Jimmy Fortune due to illness.

    Very nice memories.

      The Statler Brothers’ version of this song is the definitive one, IMO.

        I agree whole-heartedly, Razor X. They took this hymn to a whole new level and I don’t believe anyone has ever managed to match it. It still sends chills all over my body when I hear their version.
