I love the song, but Charley was not in good voice for the this performance

Here is a better recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hUrn-ggtIs

Thanks, Paul. There’s not enough Charley Pride on youtube so I jumped at this when I saw it but you’re right that it isn’t a great performance.

Those country reunion shows can be disappointing when you see how father time has caught up to one of your favorite musical heroes. The producers should have realized that putting the lyrics on cue cards would have been a really good idea. If they did that for everyone no one would feel slighted.

Hey, Charley has a lot more songs and lyrics to remember than most of these other artists do!
Any way you slice it, this Reunion series is a fabulous record of these ’50s-’80s artists–and the concept of having them interact with each other and back each other up in a casual setting is ingenious. And many of the performances have been first-rate, as well.

I do enjoy the Reunion series, but there are the off moments where artists, particularly older artists, have forgotten or messed up lyrics. Ken is right – having cue cards (or better yet – teleprompters) would be a good thing.. For the most part, stars of the 60s and 70s are now pushing 80.
