Suzy’s early ’90s rendition of this Ian Tyson song seems to owe quite a bit to Judy Collins’ from 20-plus years previous.

Yes, it’s very likely that it was Judy’s 1969 version of it that Suzy had in mind. Suzy has a very deep memory of, and a knack for, material of the urban folk music (with C&W influences) of the 1960s.

Suzy Bogguss was totally underrated as an artist.

Moe Bandy had a good version of the song but my favorite remains the Ian & Sylvia original

Ian Tyson is a national (Canadian) treasure, but I like the covers of “Someday Soon” much better than the Ian and Sylvia original. Among other things, the lyrics are written/sung from the point of view of the young woman, but Ian’s voice seems to dominate and Sylvia seems to just be singing background.
When Moe Bandy covered the song, he recast the lyrics to the rodeo rider’s viewpoint.
Here’s a middle-aged Moe singing the song on the wonderful “Family Reunion” series–in front of Bill Anderson, Roy Clark, Gene Watson, a casually-dressed Jim Ed Brown and a very stern looking Jean Shepard and the rest of the gang.
