Nice cover of a song written by Bobby Troup back in the mid-1940s. Troup was a singer/songwriter and actor probably best remembered today for the television show Emergency !, which he starred in along with his wife Julie London, one of the best torch singers ever to grace planet Earth

“Route 66” was first recorded by Nat King Cole in 1946 with his Nat King Cole Trio. Many people consider Nat as the greatest male pop/jazz vocalist ever, and those that don’t have him in the conversation. Consequently I and many others regard NKC’s version (he recorded the song thrice) as the ultimate recordings of the song.

AATW does a nice version of the song, but even Ray Benson himself would tell you he’s no Nat King Cole

And incredibly enough, it was also covered by the Rolling Stones in their own inimitable way in 1964, and by the late Glenn Frey on his 2012 album AFTER HOURS. It remains durable after seventy-plus years.
