Goldie Hill is best remembered for her 1953 number one hit “I Let The Stars Get In My Eyes.” It was an “answer” song to “Don’t Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes” from the previous year. Goldie’s subsequent Decca single featured the song posted above “Say Big Boy” backed with “I’m Yvonne (Of The Bayou)” an “answer” song to Hank Williams “Jambalaya (On The Bayou).” Neither side of that record charted in Billboard. Her only other top ten hit was the 1954 duet with Justin Tubb “Looking Back To See.”

In 1957 Carl Smith divorced June Carter and then married Goldie. Goldie passed away in 2005
Her older brother was musician/songwriter/producer Tommy Hill. Tommy wrote “Slowly’ for Webb Pierce [#1 in 1954] and co-wrote “Teddy Bear” which he also produced for Red Sovine [#1 in 1976]
