Great stuff here! Stonewall backed up by Porter’s Wagonmasters band.
This song was Stonewall’s first single release for Columbia in 1957. That first version failed to catch on and Stonewall re-recorded it again in 1963. Released as a single more than a year later it climbed to #4 and became one of Stonewall’s most requested hits.

By the way it appears that in this clip Porter is wearing the same jacket seen in the cover photo of his 1969 album “The Carroll Country Accident.”

I Don’t know that there will ever be another singer like Stonewall Jackson. He’s unique, sincere and hard-core country. Heck in this politically correct era, he’d need to change his name to Thomas Jackson or something similar

I purchased the Bear Family boxed and am praying that they get around to issuing a set to cover the second half of his career at Columbia

There was NEVER any mistaking Stonewall Jackson for anyone else
