One of country music’s best female voices. Her career was limited by her small record label [Mega] that never had major resources to properly promote & market her recordings. As Ed Bruce stated in the intro this was her follow-up single to “Help Me Make It Through The Night.” The record climbed to #10 in mid-1971. She scored just one more big hit in 1975 when her bluesy recording of Merle Haggard’s “Today I Started Loving You Again” went to #9. Sammi died in 2005. Very little of her music has been issued on CD but her vinyl albums for Mega & Elektra Records are well worth finding. You’ll hear a superb mature singer unlike the whiny little girls with thin voices that we have today.
