Another piece of pure Country Gold. Title track from their 1970 RCA Victor album. That song gave Roy Acuff his final top ten hit in April 1958 when his Hickory single climbed to #8. The song was also a successful MGM single for the Osborne Brothers & Red Allen that same year peaking at #13 just a couple of weeks before the Acuff record.
Almost all of Porter & Dolly’s duets including this one were released earlier this year in a massive 6 disc Bear Family Box set. I’m sure that a lot of Porter & Dolly fans have it on their Christmas list this year!

Dolly totally dominates the singing in this “duet” here. Porter really acts as a back-up singer.

I think that Porter & Dolly were the best male-female duet team ever. That said, this is not one of their better efforts. I much prefer the Acuff recording.

For once I agree with LOS – Dolly does dominate this song and that is not a good thing

That’s true in this instance but Porter & Dolly often took turns with lead vocal duties especially on their TV show. For most duets they traded verses but Dolly sang harmony to Porter’s lead vocal on many songs too.
