Remarkable. No one sings like Linda. So clear, so pure, so naturally intense. Kind of makes others sound phony.
Linda Ronstadt makes a huge contribution to music with this excellent rendition.
Besides Linda’s intimate familiarity with it (given that it was written by good friends of hers, in Don Henley and Glenn Frey), she really feels the solitude and loneliness of the song, having grown up in the West, This isn’t an easy thing to do, but she pulls it off like few before her, or since, for that matter.
