I love this song. And Mary Chapin Carpenter from this era. Brings back lots of happy childhood memories of listening to Come On, Come On. One of my top three favorite albums of all-time.

I think it’s kind of sad how far country music has progressed away from songs in this vein that boast an effortless and breezy production but also have lyrical substance. I always seem to forget there was a time when this type of thing was the norm, not regulated to Folk or Americana.

Thanks for sharing, J.R., I hadn’t seen this performance before and it was nice to look back and see just how great 90s country truly was.

Kind of amazing that just before Shania hit, for a few years Mary Chapin Carpenter was one of the two or three biggest women in country. And her CMA performances were usually the highlight of the show!
