It’s a very sad day for country music. Rest in peace, Possum and thanks for all the great music.

Sad news. Not completely unexpected, but still sad. This really feels like the end of an era. He was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, country singers of all time.

Yes thank you Possum for the great music.

Surprised that ol’ George made it as long as he has given the rough roads that he’s chosen. Can’t think of anyone else who packed so much living into 81 years.

The word “legend” seems completely inadequate when applied to George Jones. He possessed the most amazing instrument that country music has ever had. God Bless you George and thank you for enriching country music far more than lyrics ever could.

Can’t think of anyone else who packed so much living into 81 years?

Jeez. I think maybe you’ve got to learn about some other subjects.

How about Bob Hope? Frank Sinatra? Clint Eastwood? Nelson Mandela? Pablo Picasso? Ronald Reagan? Winston Churchill? Benjamin Franklin? John Adams?

If you had any knowledge at all about THIS subject you would realize that George Jones lived on the edge for most of his life. Unlike the other people that you cited George abused his body to an extraordinary degree and it’s a miracle that he survived as long as he did. Despite severe alcoholism, drug abuse, marital difficulties, financial disasters and countless other challenges George persevered to become a legendary artist. Given all of the trials and tribulations that he endured by my estimation his 81 calendar years actually add up to several lifetimes.

        Do you get it now?

As my eighth grade math teacher told us – ignorance is a voluntary misfortune.

Well said Ken. I could not agree more George sure did pack a lot of hard living inot those 81 years but what a legecy of great music he has left. RIP George Jones.

OK, now I get it. “Packed so much living” is a euphamism for “abused himself.” Thanks for explaining that!
