Kind of a double play here

Vince’s best work was not with Pure Prairie League
Pure Prairie League’s best music does not feature Vince Gill

Vince’s voice certainly had not even come close to being fully developed when he was with Pure Prairie League for sure.

I saw Vince many times in concert with PPL, incredible shows , some unbelievable guitar work. He was an amazing talent even back then on guitar, fiddle, banjo. His voice was terrific but a different style of music. His work on the classic PPL LP Firin’ Up was the indicator that big things were on the way for him. I just saw the CMT special with Sting, another outstanding performance from him. He’s one of the greatest talents in music today and I don’t limit it to country music.
