I’m not sure what TV show (maybe THAT GOOD OLE NASHVILLE MUSIC) this clip came from but the house band is really pedestrian and does not show Narvel off to best advantage

The second song is “Drift Away”, not “Day after Day”

The extremely low production budget for most of the syndicated shows required them to record numerous episodes during each day of taping. Often they would also have to tape those shows on subsequent days cranking out an entire TV seasons episodes within a couple of weeks. Artists who used those house bands were allowed very limited rehersal time and pretty much had to accept very simple, basic arrangments of their songs. The musicians were the same studio pickers from Nashville’s top recording studios. However given the time constraints of TV production they were not allowed to perform their finest work. “A” list artists who were allowed to bring their own bands to the set or singers who brought tape recordings of pre-recorded studio background tracks fared much better.
