Great clip from the Wednesday April 23, 1952 broadcast of the Kate Smith Evening Hour on NBC-TV. It was Hank’s second appearance on that program as he had been Kate’s guest star the previous month (March 26). Hank’s only other network TV appearance was the previous November 14th on Perry Como’s 15 minute CBS show.

Anita Carter was an underrated singer. Shame that she never achieved a successful solo career because as this clip demonstrates she possesses a truly amazing voice. Her only top ten hits were duets. About a year prior to the Kate Smith Show appearance she scored a two-sided hit with Hank Snow (Down The Trail Of Achin’ Hearts/Bluebird Island). Her final hit was the 1968 Waylon Jennings duet “I Got You.”
