1970: The Pool Shark — Dave Dudley (Mercury)

1980: Beneath Still Waters — Emmylou Harris (Warner Bros.)

1990: Help Me Hold On — Travis Tritt (Warner Bros.)

2000: Buy Me A Rose — Kenny Rogers feat. Alison Krauss & Billy Dean (Dreamcatcher)

2010: Gimmie That Girl — Joe Nichols (Show Dog – Universal)

    It’s hard to believe that “The Pool Shark” was David Dudley’s only #1 record – it’s a great song but hardly his best

    “Beneath Still Waters” was a good record but there were better recordings of the song before Emmylou’s record (George Jones, The Osborne Brothers) . The singles since 1980 weren’t all that impressive

    “He’ll Have To Go” and “Long Gone Lonesome Blues”, of course are all-time classics

      I actually quite like “Help Me Hold On” and “Buy Me A Rose”. “Gimmie That Girl”, not so much.
