    I believe this came from a sheath of poems Hank Jr. found among his father’s papers. Hank set them to music for an album called SONGS MY FATHER LEFT ME

    I don’t think I’ve ever seen a clip of Hank that was this old. Good find.

    You can definitely hear the Hank Sr. influence in this one. I remember having to convince my brother that it wasn’t Hank Sr. when I first played him this song.

    I didn’t know it was essentially written by Hank Sr. – thanks for the additional insight, Paul. My copy of the song is from an early years hits collection.
