    Good song. I’d never heard anything by Skeeter Davis. I only know she was married to Ralph Emery in the early 1960s.

      That song was a huge crossover hit for her. You’ve really never heard it before? It’s frequently included on 1960s pop hits compiliations.

    Far and away her biggest hit – Cashbox had it charting for 34 weeks with 17 weeks in the top ten and 3
    weeks at #2. Billboard had it reach #2 country, #2 pop, #1 adult contemporary and #4 R&B.

    The song went #1 in a number of other countries.So popular was the song that a few years later Herman’s Hermits covered it for an international pop hit
