    I love the Skaggs track.

So do I. It’s from his Kentucky Thunder album, which came out shortly after White Limozeen , the album he produced for Dolly. His career had hit a dry spell and this song helped to briefly revive his fortunes. This was his last single to reach #1.

I was thinking 1989 seemed fairly recent for a Ricky Skaggs #1. It’s a shame that artists like Ricky Skaggs faded away at the dawn of the 1990s.

I agree that this is a good set of songs, with Ricky being my favorite among them too.

Statue of a Fool if one of those “forgotten” gems in country music. Although the Brian Collins and Ricky Van Shelton versions are good, it’s Greene’s original number one hit that sets the standard for any re-recording of this song. Thanks for bringing it to mind again!

The Skaggs single is among my favorites on this list. Horton’s still hangin’ around, huh?

Yeah, Horton held onto the #1 spot for 10 weeks with that song, believe it or not. They’re all holdovers this week except for the Skaggs song.
