Damn, how long was ‘How Forever Feels’ the #1 song? It seems like it’s been in that spot for the last 4 or 5 weeks now.

1959, 79, and 89 saw some great songs at the top though. I was just listening to John Conlee the other day and ‘Backside of Thirty’ has always been my favorite of his. (I’m on the backside of twenty myself …)

“How Forever Feels” was #1 for 6 weeks. Why, I don’t know. We’ll finally be rid of it next week. 😉

    Mostly holdovers

“Backside of Thirty” was a great song, possibly Conlee’s best, although he had a lot of great songs.

“Young Love” by the Judds, I never did like. Still don’t

I really like the Conlee song.

So do I. I also like the Judds song. I couldn’t help but think when I watched the clip that it’s a shame Wynonna doesn’t record songs like that anymore.

I’m always surprised to see the love for John Conlee on these blogs. I think he’s great too and severely underrated. He’s never really mentioned by the media when they look back at country music’s history. Maybe he wasn’t flashy enough? Maybe they just want to ignore the early 80s altogether? I don’t know. Regardless, “Friday Night Blues” and “Old School” remain two of my favorites.

“Rose Colored Glasses” is my favorite John Conlee song. The only song of his that I didn’t like was “Miss Emily’s Picture” which was just played to death back in the early 80s.
