The Carlisles were the group built around “Jumping” Bill Carlisle, singer, guitar player, song writer and comedian. For most of his career, Bll was his own lead guitar player on stage, but I think Chet Atkins played guitar on the records

Although the group members changed a bit over time, Bill Carlisle was the constant. He was an Opry member for 50 years and made his last appearence in early March 2003, a few weeks before his death at age 95. “No Help Wanted” was his only #1 record but he charted several other top tens . Bill had a substantial career with his brother Cliff in the years before Billboard started tracking country hits on 1/1/44

“Jose Cuervo” was Shelly West’s only #1 solo hit (one of only three solo top tens). Her mother was Dottie West and her father was noted musician Bill West. She would have several more hits with her then-brother in law David Frizzell, but apparently retired to tend to her family, so we’ll wish a Happy Mothers’ Day to her
