One of my favorite country Christmas tunes.
Suzy first recorded this song as a duet with Michael Martin Murphey for his 1991 Warner Brothers album “Cowboy Christmas.” (26647-2). The next year she released a second solo version as a single for Capitol Records. For many years that version could only be found on Christmas song compilation CD’s that featured various artists. In 2001 Suzy released the “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” album on her own label Loyal Duchess Records (LDR-0002) Along with the newly recorded tracks she included the “Two-Step ‘Round The Christmas Tree” recording from 1992 and her extremely rare 1989 Capitol Christmas single “Mr. Santa,” a parody of “Mr. Sandman” that featured Chet Atkins on guitar and Ricky Skaggs on mandolin. The CD remains available via Suzy’s website along with a second holiday collection CD that she released in 2010.
