The life and times of Keith Whitley

kwhitleyI just found an excellent documentary on Keith on YouTube, put together by a fan, as well as a documentary that aired on The Nashville Network years ago. Unfortunately, embedding is disabled, but they can be viewed by clicking on the links below. They’re well worth watching:

Great find – it was really interesting. It just underlines what a terrible thing alcoholism is.

It’s a very sad story; a tragic and senseless waste of life and talent.

I’d never seen any of those. Great, great stuff.

But it reminds me how much I miss the old TNN …

Wow. Powerful. Thanks for posting Razor. Really gives a great overview of his life and music, and the sad, sad loss. Wonder if he struggled with undiagnosed depression and anxiety that just never got treated. Sometimes alcohol or other substances are a way to self-medicate, to numb out, but then the addiction is so hard to deal with. Certainly was a person who felt deeply about things — both a gift and a curse at the same time.

I’m glad you all enjoyed all my Whitley family videos. Be sure to sign the petition to show your support for Keith being elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame on PetitionOnline.com, and tune in tomorrow, May 9th, at 9 am EDT to wcyofm.com to listen to a live stream of a radio special hosted by radio personality Charlie Hall dedicated to Keith Whitley. His special guest will be Randy Hayes, Keith’s original bass guitarist for his band Miami and his former bandmate during his years with J. D. Crowe & the New South. And join us at our Yahoo! group, Keith Whitley Association. Thanks again, everyone!
